NAMHHR convenor attended the sixth
session of the ‘North Block Policy Charcha’ on 2nd Feb 2015 in New Delhi. The
title of the meeting was 'What the Budget can do
for Women'. There were two presentations by Jashodhara Dasgupta (SAHAYOG
& NAMHHR) on the Reproductive Health and the Budget and Nisha Agarwal
(Oxfam India) on the Domestic Violence and the Budget. The
presentations were focused on how the budget should focus on the critical
emerging issues on reproductive health in India with a focus on family planning
and maternal mortality and resources required for the implementation of the
Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA). The meeting was
attended by V S Oberoi , Secretary, Ministry of Women and
Child Development, and Arvind
Subramanian, Chief Economic Adviser Ministry of Finance, and
a number of CSOs and experts from the field of health and women rights.
